Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

I get asked a lot about the things I use to build software, stay productive, or buy to fool myself into thinking I’m being productive when I’m really just procrastinating. Here’s a big list of all of my favorite stuff.

Workstation

  • 13-inch MacBook Pro, M1 chip, 16GB RAM (2020)

My journey from Windows to Linux, to a 13“ MacBook Pro, Intel 8GB RAM (2015) and finally a 13“ MacBook Pro, M1 Chip 16GB RAM (2020). Farewell to the Windows-Linux-Intel journey! No more blue screens or driver hassles—this M1-powered MacBook brings the stability and reliability I crave for work, programming, and daily tasks. Cheers to smooth sailing!

  • iPad Air 5th Gen (M1 chip)

Meet my trusty sidekick, the iPad Air 5th Gen with the M1 chip. It's my secret weapon for responsive design testing on Safari, because, let's face it, real devices tell no lies. But that's not all – it's also my portable second screen on the go. Double the screen, double the fun, and double the productivity! 🚀

Development tools

  • Visual Studio Code

VSCode has become my go-to text editor for most of my work and coding endeavors. Its rich feature set and extensions ecosystem make it a versatile and powerful tool. While it may lack some of the fancy features found in full-fledged paid IDEs, for me, VSCode strikes the perfect balance between functionality and simplicity.

  • iTerm2

I’m honestly not even sure what features I get with this that aren’t just part of the macOS Terminal but it’s what I use.

  • GitHub Copilot

Meet Copilot: my coding buddy, the AI wingman of my dreams. 🤖🚀 It's like having a co-pilot in your code cockpit, suggesting lines like a pro and making coding feel like a breeze. When in doubt, Copilot's got your back - it's the Jedi to my coding Luke! 💻🌟

Design

  • Figma

We started using Figma as just a design tool but now it’s become our virtual whiteboard for the entire company. Never would have expected the collaboration features to be the real hook.

Productivity

  • Notion

Where chaos meets its match! It turns my scattered thoughts into organized genius. 🧠✨ To-do lists, project planning, and notes - it's like having a digital personal assistant with a sense of humor. 😄📝

  • Apple Music

My secret sauce for coding magic with a groove! 🎧💻 Coding + tunes = productivity on a whole new level. It's like having a dance party in my code cave! 💃💻

  • Focus

Simple tool for blocking distracting websites when I need to just do the work and get some momentum going.
